Welcome to the Chicago SolidWorks Users' Group Website! The Chicago SolidWorks Users' Group provides a forum for learning and information exchange among Chicago area SolidWorks users.

The Chicago SolidWorks Users' Group, (CSUG), is a Not-For-Profit organization for Chicago area professionals involved in the use of SolidWorks.

Our group is composed mostly of engineering and industrial design professionals, but anyone interested in SolidWorks is welcome and encouraged to join.

SolidWorks Rx, Customer Portal, Administration/Troubleshooting Tips & Tricks

Greg Jankowski, Customer Satisfaction Manager with SolidWorks Corporation will give a presentation on the tools available for troubleshooting SolidWorks including SolidWorks Rx, the Customer Portal among other tools, tips & tricks.

 

We will have the usual pizza and soft drinks for refreshments, along with a door prize drawing (if we have prizes to give away).

 

 

The meeting should adjourn around 8pm.

Rapid Prototyping Technologies

Tom Humrickhouse - Computer Aided Technology

 

Tom Humrickhouse from CATI will give a presentation consisting of a general overview of the rapid prototyping technologies available today along with a glimpse into the future.  This may also include some tips on CAD modeling that would aid in the rapid prototyping process.  He will also briefly discuss the 3D Printing feature offered inside of SolidWorks.  Tom will also bring an Objet 3D printer to set up and have a part made so the group can see the process in action.

Learn how to build and maintain an effective table - from parts to assemblies and back again. Attendees gain a deeper understanding of SolidWorks and Excel tools and concepts that can be applied in making more efficient and automated models.

 

Note to users:

Josh will be giving this presentation at SolidWorks World 2009.  This will give Josh an opportunity practice his presentation in front of a group.  This will also allow us to learn more about Design Tables and how they work.

How Robust is your SolidWorks model?

Being able to make changes to your model with the confidence that it will update without errors is directly dependent on how you constrain your sketches.

Whenever possible… define constraints, etc. to sketch entities as opposed to feature face edges.  Sketch entities are less likely to change or be absorbed in later feature operations than edges.  Edges can be absorbed by features like fillets and chamfers making any references to them unsolvable.
