JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: CAD Consultant
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The primary purpose of the CAD Consultant position is to assist the tool design engineers to become proficient with the use of SolidWorks 3D modeling software. This will be accomplished through hands on training and written documentation. With guidance from the die design supervisor, this person will also assist the department to document modeling standards, die design standards, and custom macros.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides hands on SolidWorks training and technical support to our tool design engineers.
2. Assist with developing modeling standards and relative documentation. Use this documentation to train other users.
3. With direction from the die design supervisor, assist with incorporating our die standards from CoCreate into SolidWorks.
4. Attend specific training classes for 3D QuickPress die design software that integrates with SolidWorks.
5. Assist with the development of Production Ready Library (PRL) which will be used to automate the creation of our existing standards.
6. Assist with testing integration of SolidWorks to our Model Manager PDM.
7. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
EDUCATION:
Required: SolidWorks certification. (CSWP)
Preferred: Associates or Bachelors degree in a technical field, engineering or manufacturing.
CSWP – Sheet Metal certification
WORK RELATED EXPERIENCE:
Required: 3-5 total years experience using SolidWorks for a
mechanical or engineering design discipline
Preferred: Model Manager or SolidWorks Enterprise PDM experience
Training experience
Die design experience
SKILLS:
Required:
Excellent communication skills and ability to work with various tool engineers.
The ability and desire to instruct others in the use of SolidWorks.
Able to quickly comprehend and deploy assignments given by management.
Goal oriented.
Preferred:
Strong mechanical aptitude.
OTHER: Some limited travel may be required.
