Presentation:

Rick Chin, Director of Product & Marketing Innovation at SolidWorks, will be presenting on how the SWIFT FeatureXpert came to be.  Learn about the inspiration for the technology and gain a conceptual understanding for how it works.  You will be very surprised by what you learn.

Note to users:

Rick has been with SolidWorks since the early days and has played a major roll in many of the technologies incorporated into the SolidWorks software.  Please bring any of your ideas and/or comments to the meeting.  I am sure Rick would be receptive to any user ideas and/or comments that you would like to share with the group.

We will have the usual pizza and soft drinks for refreshments, along with a door prize drawing (if we have prizes to give away).

There will also be a suggestion box at the sign-in table, so bring your ideas for future meetings.

The meeting should adjourn around 8pm.

No RSVP necessary.

We will base the headcount on the average from previous meetings.

Looking forward to meeting the familiar faces along with any new members.

SolidWorks Best Practice #1

scslowik August 26th, 2008

How Robust is your SolidWorks model?

Being able to make changes to your model with the confidence that it will update without errors is directly dependent on how you constrain your sketches.

Whenever possible… define constraints, etc. to sketch entities as opposed to feature face edges.  Sketch entities are less likely to change or be absorbed in later feature operations than edges.  Edges can be absorbed by features like fillets and chamfers making any references to them unsolvable.
